We make works of art in metal when we are illustrating silhouettes from our drawings we do on paper. Our most recent projects are designed with aluminum.  We design the concepts in studio and work closely with specialized fabrication shops to do the water jet cutting and the welding.

Mary Wadey’s Quilt - 2020

This piece was commissioned by the Blackfalds and Area Historical Society on behalf of the Wadey family. It shows Mary Wadey standing by a quilt that depicts the many things she was known for. As an avid quilter, farmer, volunteer and active in the local women’s league, she helped many people and was memorable in the community.

Glass mosaic with aluminum powder coated frame with a sandblasted and painted aluminium cut out. On the edge is an actual old Maytag wringer washer from the 1930’s that was from Mary Wadey’s home. [Blackfalds, AB]

Unity Through Sport - 2019

This piece is located on the side of the Culture Services building for the City of Red Deer. It was commissioned by the Canada Winter Games organization and symbolizes the unity of athletes from all provinces.

A torch is a symbol of peace, friendship, tolerance and hope, uniting communities across the nation. Flow and movement within the ribbon expresses the energy emitted from both the torch and the Red Deer River. A maple leaf for each province and territory. A blue glass piece for each sport of the Games. Dynamic changes in the colours of the artwork celebrate all who participated in the 2019 Games & those who continue to animate the Gary W. Harris Celebration Plaza as a gathering space. [Red Deer, AB]

Voyageurs - 2017

This bench was made for Discovery Park in Red Deer. It’s a powder coated aluminum and functions as an interactive sculptural bench.

The whimsical characters of the beaver, bull and cow moose traverse Discovery Canyon in a classic voyageur canoe. This sculptural bench invites visitors to join the adventure. In winter months the sculpture will stand on the grounds as a playful yet striking silhouette. It can even be enjoyed on wintry days by imaginative outdoor explorers that seek a carefree paddle through the icy river. [Red Deer, AB]

Star Gazer - "Koo Koo Sint" 2017

The sculpture Star Gazer, is about David Thompson; the explorer, cartographer and voyageur. A silhouette of David Thompson is seated looking through his sextant high upon a tripod of canoes.

The canoes themselves are embellished with images depicting his explorations, maps, family, stars and his connection with the local indigenous people, who gave him the respected name Koo-Koo-Sint meaning ‘Star Gazer” for which the sculpture is named. This sculpture, along with 4 others are part of the Canada 150 Capital Boulevard Legacy Public Art Project in Edmonton, AB.

Silhouettes of Medicine Hat - 2016

The Silhouettes of Medicine Hat were designed to reflect the cities flora, fauna and industries.  We were tasked with creating public art for the family Leisure Centre as the city was doing an addition to the facility. We came up with the idea to use the original brickwork in the front of the building to present 6 arches and one large meadowlark. For the interior we created smaller metal silhouettes.

Working with an art committee we came up with imagery of the local agriculture, oil and gas, and the now historical brick plant with old Medalta potteries.  The other three arches illustrate the wildlife, landscape and local aboriginal history. Inside and on the building are a large meadowlark, avocets, a pelican, sage grouse, burrowing owls and an antelope. [Medicine Hat, AB]
